From September last year until recently, we had an intern from France, Amin Sdouga, student at EPITA, and since this was the first international internship for us we talked with him to see if we did well and to get some insights on how to do better in the future. Amin was part of the Urban PHO Tools Development team, one among several teams of developers in Belit. This team is composed of two full-stack developers, one database expert, two back-end developers, one front-end developer and the manager, Vladimir Urošević, who was also the internship supervisor. Development of tools and solutions for the Public Health Organizations in smart cities and communities is one of the main continuous development and pilot validation projects in the e-Health “vertical” of Belit solutions supporting the health sector, and in strong synergy with smart city solutions development as well. Amin told us that at first he was unsure about how he will fit in a team of experienced developers such as this one, but after a while and with good supervision he got to see the full picture and become a useful team member. “Belit’s company culture is professional but relaxed. There is no pressure which for me as an intern was perfect. There was always someone to turn to for advice and direction. My goals and priorities were clear to me, and also my progress. Since cyber security is my main interest I was encouraged to explore it and share any ideas I have on the matter. There was never a dull moment.” Amin concluded that overall this was a good experience for him professionally, and personally. He added that he wanted to see if he could live outside of France and the answer is yes, because both in Belit and Belgrade everyone has been quite welcoming.
