The project is designed to improve the basic knowledge infrastructure of the statistical offices of Serbia and Montenegro – including the Regional Offices of Statistical Office of the Republic of Serbia (SORS).

The training was carried on organisation and management, fundamentals of market-economy, EU structures and functioning and specific IT matters in view of creating appropriate ground for the further implementation of EU-compatible methodology in statistics.

The project will achieve the basic knowledge improvement through training activities in specific background areas (management, economics, EU structures and IT):

• Pro-activeness of the beneficiaries in leading the reform process within the institution and with outside counterparts
• Awareness about the needs for improvements
• Capability of all managers to deal with the reform in statistics
• Notions of responsibility and related-risks
• Knowledge of basics in the fields of market economy, and of EU functioning and structures
• Development of a corporate image and institutional pride
• More efficient management methods adopted by beneficiaries, among which team-work
• New system of delegation of responsibilities accepted and endorsed at all levels
• Increased motivation of all personnel
• Decision-making done in conscious and responsible way
• Increased and improved use of computers in everyday work
• Mastering of necessary IT tools
• Higher exploitation of IT possibilities, especially for internal communications
• Successful training of trainers
